Hello, guys,

Could you please help me to find out if Oakwood is the safe neighborhood or it is not? I just don't get it. Websites show me that the crime rate is high there, 25 offenders in 1 mile around the home we are thinking about. And on city data it seems like people like Oakwood and find it very safe and family friendly.

My husband got a job in downtown Dayton and we want to rent a home/townhome/condo in a safe neighborhood around.

Thank you.

I am not sure what you are asking about. Do you mean registered sex offenders? Most people whithin a mile of a residence in Oakwood aren't even in Oakwood, if you know what I mean. They may be within a mile, but they are in Dayton or Kettering. Oakwood is the safest place around, however no communtiy is immune to crime or is crime free. There is a reason the schools are great and the real estate retains its value. What websites are you looking at?

Thank you so much, joe from dayton, for your reply. I was looking at this one:Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed

Now I can see that these offenders are not in Oakwood, they are mostly to the east of Shroyer Rd.

Thank you for the link I was looking at this one too, but I should have zoomed in - before zooming in I saw the red color covering the word "Oakwood" That is why I thought it is criminal place. Now I don't think so, thank you again.

Crime is everywhere, but there's plenty less of it in Oakwood. I wouldn't worry another minute about it.

The police in Oakwood have a very small city to patrol. They do a nice job but that doesn't mean there is some sort of electric fence around the area that keeps the riff raff out from Dayton and other areas.

You're welcome, I wasn't trying to come off snarky either. Just making the point that it's a really nice area where common sense will likely rule the day.

Well there does seem to be a sort of electric fence around communities when it comes to various city services, so don't overlook that.
