And the guy representing part of it in the U.S. House of Representatives is the current Speaker of the House and second in line for the U.S. Presidency should there be some kind of an unforseen disaster....

Hi CarpathianPeasant--

I distinctly remember Romney mentioning a lady from Dayton during his opening statement during the first debate. Does that count?

Fed, med, ed...unless you're a nurse, engineer or professor, not much reason to move to the Dayton area.

Hi Ohiogirl81--

If I recall correctly the Republican legislature gerrymandered West Dayton with West Chester back in 2000 so that the 90+% Democrat half of town was outnumbered and outvoted by the more numerous Republican areas in West Chester?

Even in 2010, it's outnumbered by Beavercreek and Greene County as a whole and given Neuhardt's nonexistent campaign on the ground I don't think it'll swing this year either.

Well, much of Dayton, on the other hand, is probably sitting there saying, "Well, that's about right.... (Gov. Cox finally has some real competition.)"

Hi all--

Bad news for downtown Dayton:

Downtown Dayton Partnership

No exit ramps to access downtown quickly or conveniently until 2017, starting October 15.

I'm seriously contemplating moving as soon as my lease is up.

That's going to be rough. I'm sure it's a welcome improvement, although you do get used to the challenge that is I-75 through downtown.

What am I saying -- I deliberately avoided I-75 when I was in town in July!

Where do you live now?

So true. And tack on to engineering the security clearance clause. I wonder who is buying the $500K+ homes in Beavercreek and other suburbs (they actually do sell)?

I guess it's great being a civilian gov't contractor in bio-medical engineering!
