You would think if there was competition between the 2, the one at the fairgrounds site would win.

I would think so, too. Not only would one at the fairgrounds site be within walking distance of MVH and the main part of the UD campus, but also the restaurants and other amenities not only on Brown Street but also those that would be a part of any fairgrounds mixed used project as well. The only such amenities within easy walking distance of the Edwin Moses Blvd site are a Wendy's, a McDonald's, and the Love's truck stop/Hardee's.

On the positive side, if the picture shown is what will be built, it will be a very nice addition to the cityscape. A sleek, modern, glass walled multistory building there will be a nice addition aesthetically to Dayton's southern gateway and the entranceway to the neighborhood containing a lot of Dayton's old and new knowledge based enterprises such as UD, MVH, GE, Emerson, Midmark, and UDRI. It should be a nice boost to the NCAA Tournament First Four in Dayton, and our efforts to retain the same.

You are right, it was. The DDN article mentioned that this one would only be four stories tell.

Default Company Plans to Build Over One Hundred Condos in Two Locations Near University of Dayton and Site of New Oakwood Stadiu

Oakwood condo proposal heads to city council | Dayton News | www.daytondailynews.com

Article details proposals approved by Oakwood Planning Commission and waiting review by the city commission later this month for over one hundred condo units at two locations, one at Far Hills and Schantz and the other just south of the new Oakwood stadium, which itself will be built south of River Park Drive (which the article says will provide the main access to the stadium) on former NCR property. If built this projects will provide a boost not just to Oakwood but to adjacent neighborhoods in Dayton as well, such as increased business for restaraunts and other businesses on Brown Street (and hopefully at a mixed use development at the fairgrounds soon) derived from residents of the new condo developments and crowds at the stadium. That area of Dayton and Oakwood just continues to grow!

Think about all the growth that has occurred over the course of the 21st Century along a corridor running from West Carrollton near I-75 through Moraine and on into Dayton, including UD, Brown and Main and surrounding areas, Edwin Moses and the area around the arena and Love's truck plaza (which despite some early misgivings about truck traffic has materialized, I think, into a very nice addition for Dayton) and through the eastern reaches of downtown, including Tech Town, Webster Station, the Oregon District, the Water Street development, the area around the baseball stadium, Main Street (Schuster Center, CareSource, etc) and the area around Patterson Blvd in general. While there have been a couple of major setbacks, this part of the Miami Valley has proven to be very resilient. In the 21st Century this corridor has been one of, if not the biggest, centers of development in the Miami Valley.

I agree, but I am not in favor of the new Oakwood stadium.

That is a great location. Has anyone been to their restaurant in Troy?
