I really hope the city is able to easily connect the pockets that are popping up. Oregon District to the ballpark / Water Street areas and UD / South Park to Oregon. Foot traffic, foot traffic, foot traffic.

Well, here is the news on Fresh Thyme's second store. 2015 is projected opening. It says Fairborn, but it is actually Beavercreek. Just a Fairborn zip code. To answer OHKID's question, they (should) know pretty far in advance.

Fresh Thyme announces 2nd Dayton-area store, 23 openings in country - Dayton Business Journal

Too bad stores like this don't open in food deserts. It does come down to demographics, but if someone could find a small format that works, boy would they be rich quick.

...that's going to be a tough site to redevelop, but it will be cool that they are going to keep the original factory (which I think was actually their second factory...the first was in Edgemont....). Right now that old plant is buried in later Delco/Inland additions.

That entire complex is really a collection of seperate plants that GM eventually aquired and connected together.

The DDP report...that rendereing of Water Place looks good...the townhouses along the river. That was, I recall, the original plans for the riverfront before that Ballpark Village detour...rowhhouses along the levee walk.

Interesting to see that Pop Up Shop program get some national recognition. Here's a link to the International Downtown Association (the org that gave the recognition to Dayton's program):

^Agreed! From the original renderings, I was OK with the proposal, but not ecstatic.

But now, I can see how it works into the skyline and with the river. The scale is just right, and the connection to the riverfront and the city is really good. Great architecture!

I love the current drawings and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a grocery takes up the retail space. It doesn't even have to be fancy--maybe a bit bigger than the Trader Joe's in Kettering--and it would make a fortune!

I just noticed the drawing of the renovated Hauer music building. Looks like an addition / renovation of some sort on the north side of the building. Hopefully the overall look of the building stays the same.
