^With three different organizations pulling in three separate directions, I bet you are right AndyMac. Unless a few big names get behind one of the efforts, like Dayton History + a major donor company in the area, I just see this being a sad struggle.

What would be cool to see IMO is some collaboration with the National Aviation Heritage Association or the Wright-Dunbar business district to get this located by the former Wright Aeronautical Factory site or in the Wright-Dunbar business district.

Also, some retail news from the Dayton Mall. Appears things are going well there, a few stores moving in and a few expanding:

I'm hoping this is part of an overarching trend towards consolidation of stores back into the mall and out of strip centers. That way weaker shopping centers can be demolished and re-purposed into industrial, office, or apartments. And it cleans out a lot of the "scruff", given there are more stringent zoning requirements now in Miami Township which will help prevent more "strip-mall hell" from occurring.

At FROC last night, we met with Carl E. Johnson, the new owner of the old Pepito's on Catalpa. He's currently in the process of converting it into a restaurant called "The Front Row", which will be a family friendly burger joint with a sports bar area. Part of the front will be turned into a patio. He's looking to purchase any eyesores in the nearby area to either convert into small businesses or convert into parking areas. They're looking for an August opening date. It looks to be a real-deal type of place, not some crappy dive. Mr. Johnson said that this will not be a place to congregate and said "if they aren't paying, they aren't staying." Security will also make sure there are no loiterers in the parking lot.

Fuyao chairman wants Moraine plant to be company

Sure would be nice if we could get the "400 million research and development center" in the Dayton area too.

Do you realize it takes an Act of Congress to create a U.S. National Park?

And, one latent objective is to get things on the U.N. World Heritage List, which takes a sponsorship by the host country.

I see no worthwhile comparison or connection.

What else would you like to hang on the coat tails of someone else's years of work? (And, I don't mean the revised Montgomery County Historical Society aka Dayton History.)
