4 new restaurants eyeing Mall at Fairfield Commons | www.daytondailynews.com

DDN is saying 4 restaurants have signed letters of intent, and the DBJ is saying there's space for 5 total. This is a lot better than a vacant anchor, but I still think the mall could have done a really nice retail or office re-work with the property than restaurant space that would have had a greater overall ROI in my opinion.

Regardless, I'll bet at least 3 out of the four signed restaurants are:
- Firebirds Grill
- Another Broken Egg Cafe or IHOP
- Carraba's
- Bonefish Grill
My guesses, so far, have been 100% wrong. Not necessarily upset by it though:

BJ's Restaurant and Chuy's are coming

Agreed. Seems close to have them in both places. I don't mind when there are a bunch of fast food places, but you want places like BJ's to be more "special". It takes something away from them, IMO, when you can get to one from just about anywhere.

Lots of good news, especially the last piece. The Human Performance Group is an integral part of WPAFB.

This does highlight one important thing, though - development seems to be centering around the edges of downtown. Water Street, those townhomes that Charlie Simms built on Patterson, the proposed redevelopment of the Fairgrounds, and so on.

While the projects in the middle of downtown are going nowhere. The Arcade will probably get torn down. And Student Suites is just a hole in the ground. Even Steve Rauch's equipment has been taken off the site, leaving just a hole in the ground that's getting grown in. CBCB had to move away from the bus stop due to the amount of riffraff and trouble they had to deal with.

Yeah, the bus stop is not good for the area. I think it is probably good they are focusing on the areas they are. Develop where things are working. Then, work on the other areas. Also, the "center" of downtown should be more businesses/offenses anyway, IMO.
