Good point. It's actually been rather nice lately weather wise. That'll certainly change soon though.

I know I'm due for a shock but I wasn't all that big of a fan of San Diego's 'Truman Show' weather too. The big plus points for me are the affordability index of a house and being close to family.

I'd say the culture shock will be more significant. After the first couple of winters, the weather is no big deal (though it remains an incessant topic of conversation among the locals).

Yeah maybe. Although I did my schooling in Chicago and North Carolina so I don't think it would be quite as much of a shock. My wife has lived in Mumbai and San Diego so she would be definitely in for a shock although she seems to be quite excited.

Quick question, I noticed while browsing that FHA loans are only for houses built on or after 1975. Is that true?

Does that also apply to renovated houses?

Is this the same rule for conventional loans?

You're just in time for the first blast of winter weather!

But in all seriousness, welcome (and be safe out there!).

Haha, I almost went off the road a couple of times yesterday that was fun. But I looked at a few houses today and I like the country homes with acreage here. Hopefully I can land something soon.

That shouldn't be too hard, especially in the northern counties. Good luck with your search (and staying on the roads)! Be safe out there!
