This seems like a very nice old area. Close to the Art Institute. Is this a safe area to buy a house ?
I would like to hear more about this area.

We looked at the outside of a house in that area some 40 or so years ago, called the realtor and I mentioned something about the places in the area being cut up into apartments. He immediately bubbled over with the fact that the house had already been cut up into apartments for the medical staff at the nearby hospital. We never went farther.

There are probably some single family homes still in the area, but there are a couple of high rise apartments on Central that have had trouble in them. The area, however, is rather historic above and beyond the Art Institute.

I think you mean Belmonte Park East for the circle, not Stoddard.

Yes, I was looking at the mock Tudors and the four squares on East Belmont. Hard to believe they were chopped up 40 years ago. Sad. Hope they are being brought back. The circle is called Stoddard Circle, right ?

Zoom in close on your map. I don't think Stoddard goes too near it. If someone is calling it that, chances are they looked at a map without the Belmonte Park East written on it. Belmonte Park has two parts, Belmonte Park East and Belmonte Park North. The "north" is on the other side of Grand avenue. That has some nice houses, too.

I was on a house tour of this area back in the very late 1990s or early 2000s, and was quite impressed by the interiors of these places. All very "Great Gatsby" or "Beverly Hills". I posted eslewhere that in other cities one has to drive a few miles out of downtown to find comparable housing stock, vs having it as close-in as it is in Dayton, which makes this neighborhood somewhat unique for a Midwest city.
