As I recall, he lived in Five Oaks on Rockwood avenue between Neal avenue and Five Oaks avenue. I had a friend who lived about two blocks west of there, and things like that were not really discussed.

That little one block strip also had the house of the bowling alley owner who was gunned down in front of his house something like 70 years ago, which was also an "unsolved" case. In addition, around the corner of the west side of the street, straddling the alley, there at least once was a barber shop on one side and a tiny little neighborhood grocery on the other. Somewhere in there an outside pay phone was available. One Christmas time a girl was gunned down trying to make a phone call. It was considered one of the most horrible crimes of the time. Those were not the only shocking events in the general area.

I walked into that grocery one day and straight into an armed robbery. Reportedly the guy later tried to rob a drug store somewhere west of there and the pharmacist shot him. I would not be surprised if the person who killed officer Brame had very little to do with the area of Cherry drive or other allied stuff.
