Cool but bad weird news.

Cool that this guy, who put Smokey the Bear and Mr. Clean to life, lived in this area. Bad that he died:

Kettering man behind

Smokey the Bear? No relation, of course, to Wilbear Wright. Frankly, I don't see how they can downplay the Wright Brothers legacy more than they do. This is out of the headlines already:

Jerry Sharkey and Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historic Park | www.daytondailynews.com

Sharkey did a lot.

Postscript: for people who don't click on links, it's an obituary. I guess I should add that Sharkey did downplay Sharkey.

And, here's the PAID obituary which really tells the story:

Better hope a fugitive doesn't crash and run in Kettering, that could bring down their property values real quick!
BTW, unpaid traffic fine....am I missing something here?

Store Burglarized for Third Time in Four Months

The guy has lost $20,000 worth of crap ever since setting up shop... in January. And you wonder why businesses are leaving downtown (Thompson Hine, Clark Schaefer Hackett, Teradata... now with CBCB moving away from the RTA hub).

Maybe Nan should get serious about public safety and stop buying up random abandoned buildings for the land bank. Break the power of the teacher's unions to get a handle on the abysmal state of Dayton Public Schools, clean up the streets to prevent crap like this from going on, and actually get serious about appealing the city to all the people who fled to the suburbs for a reason.

Everything downtown is bolted to the ground, chained, or locked for a reason - if not, it'll get carried away.

Been to Five Oaks lately? That area is very safe but sometimes, in this crazy world of ours, bad things happen.

I think the reason that store is always getting robbed is because of the location. At night, that area is usually pretty deserted unlike the Cannery shops or the Oregon where there are always eyes on the street.

To blame the problems in DPS on teacher's unions is just bizarre.

His problem is carrying the kind of clothes hood rats want to wear, unlike business wear or anything else requiring you to pin more than three buttons. It's a damn shame one of the few black-owned businesses downtown can't prosper due to classic crab-in-barrel syndrome.

You are contradicting yourself. Are you saying you want him to succeed with "hood rat" wear, or do you want him to start carrying business wear?

I think you misread what he was saying.
