Default Moving to North Dayton area

I recently accepted a job in Sidney and will looking to move in the next couple weeks. I am recent grad, 23 years old, single. I'm looking for the best fit for me. I like a good nightlife, nice area, ideally with a somewhat younger crowd. I'm not planning to live in Sidney b/c I don't want to live in a small town with nothing to do. Looking at the map it appears either Englewood, Vandalia, or Huber Heights may be an option. I have heard Tipp City is nice, however it appears to be a pretty small town. Not looking to go any further south as the commute would be much longer.

Suggestions on a good place for me to live? Thanks.

honestly, tipp city is nice. sidney, huber heights, vandalia, englewood - theyre all kinda crappy. then again im a native ohioan so of course im going to think that lol. there are some nice parts to all those cities though. they are growing and there are suburbs going up all over. ohio is pretty indeustrialized though. personally, ive always liked south dayton better. so if youre willing to drive the extra way i would look a little further south than that. troy is up there also, its about the same though.

have you looked east? if youre not too far from the high way then maybe you could go further east on 70 rather than north or south. once you get out of huber there really isnt anything until columbus except corn. sorry but you came to the wrong state for a night life lol. you want corn and smoke stacks then you came to the right place! lol. good luck.

Hmm, nightlife near Sidney, I think you are out of luck in the area. However Troy does have a few hot spots for someone your age. There is not much excitment in Tipp City, it is more family oriented. Along with Huber, Vandalia & Englewood.

Your best bet might be Huber or Vandalia to live. You wouldn't be too far from work then you could go about the same distance south (Centerville area) for a small amount of nightlife. Or live in either Huber or Vandalia and go about an hour east to Columbus for some much better nightlife. ~~That is what my kids do!

Let me clarify a bit. I was born and raised in Maumee, a subrub of Toledo, so I'm not new to Ohio. When I say nightlife, I don't expect anything like a big city, but basically a more a diverse selection of bars perhaps. Being from Toledo, having everything close as in stores etc., I'm not sure I could do the whole living out next to corn fields thing. I have heard a couple good things about Troy, so that is a possibility.

Actually, the president of the company told me on my first interview, "If you happen to get this job, DO NOT live in Sidney." He said I'd be bored to tears.

why not live downtown? 45 minute drive to sidney, (which i don't see as terrible). much more to do, alot more young people/people your age and more places to go out....and escaping the chains in some of the suburban areas of dayton.

VANDALIA-BUTLER has a largely growing restaurant base. The Miller Lane area has a lot of bars and restaurants growing and more shoppin.g Alot of new quality development with easy access to the highway.

lol, I grew up in Vandalia, and I always though Tipp was crappy!!

I would consider Vandalia and Tipp about the same. More residential, less shopping and other amenities. With the building up on Miller Lane, Vandalia now has a huge restaurant base. Sidney is nothing but farm country, Huber is congested with all the big box shopping you could want. Troy may really be your best bet, or downtown like already mentioned...

It is a whole lot easier to commute 10 minutes to work and 45 minutes to play that vice versa.
