Good (gentle) dentist in Dayton/HH/Vandalia?
Hi everyone,
We just switched insurance plans and I have a lot of dentists I can choose from, but do not know any of them. Can anyone please tell me if they know of a good, gentle dentist for my family in the Dayton, Huber Heights, Vandalia, or Troy area? I work for a small office and everyone else is in my shoes also.
Thanks so much.
Kim

I am very pleased with my dentist in the North Dayton area. His name is James F. Taylor. The address is 6800 N. Dixie Rd in Dayton. He is very honest and the staff is friendly. Hope you find somebody you like because it took awhile for us to when we moved.

My dentist might be a little out of your way but he is a treasure. Dayton Dental Collaborative/ Dr. Shellhouse on Far Hills Ave. They are state of the art. On occasion they'll have 'free' hand massages while your teeth is being cleaned. Soothing music in the background and his staff are top notch. He is acutely aware of any pain and will bend over backwards to make sure you don't feel any. He's terrific with children.
The only problem I had with my dental plan was the time I had my old leaking mercury fillings replaced with a 'white' composite and the insurance said it was 'aesthetic' (for looks only) They were back molars where no one could see them? The dental office said this insurance company must have a 'stone age' policy?

I always went to Dr. Tom Williams, who is Dr. Taylor's partner and started the practice. I saw him from my first appt as a child until I moved away from Ohio. He was wonderful and I was never afraid to go to him...and if she's still there, Jean the hygenist is excellent. She's probably been there 30 years? More? Excellent practice, my entire family in the Dayton area goes there...my mom was just there yesterday to repair a crown.
He's right next to the Dairy Queen close to Bartley Rd...looks like a small house. Dr. Taylor is great too.
Wish I liked my current dentist as much!!

Van Buren Dental on Smithville Rd. is wonderful
I'm sure the original poster has found his or her dentist by now. But since everyone is throwing their favorite dentists out there ...I wanted to go ahead and mention Van Buren Dental on Smithville Rd. (between Forrer & Patterson). The whole staff there is WONDERFUL and the office is very clean and remodeled inside. I would highly recommend them for someone looking for a dentist in the S Dayton/Kettering area.

Thanks, everyone!
I loved Dr. Taylor; he was great, but our insurance changed AGAIN. I'm going to Dr. McConnell down in Kettering now and he is great also. It is so important to me (and it sounds like I'm not alone in this) to have a nice, gentle dentist.
Thank you again!

I recommend: Dr. Edward H Rugh DDS MS, 1205 Meadow Bridge Drive, Dayton, OH (near Fairfield Rd and Dayton-Xenia Rd in Beavercreek.)
He teaches at Wright State and is prominent in the local dentist professional association. They are very nice.
