1) Sandy Gudorf, president of the DDP, doesn't live in the city probably for the same reason most people don't - lack of modern housing stock, city taxes, poor services, poor schools, crime, etc.

2) Even if you do succeed in attracting a number of young professionals, they will leave for the suburbs the minute they have a kid that reaches school age. In short, it will be a constant uphill battle to get people to live downtown unless you clean up the school district.

2a) Downtown occupancy is near 100% because there isn't a whole lot of places to live. Using a small sample size doesn't indicate a strong correlation of anything...

64 dollar question, will the riff raff continue after said events are done for the night?

That will be the question. How to make it not happen will be the issue too.

Well, there's one idea that MIGHT work, but I doubt RTA wants to spend MONEY to do it. Years ago, they had "neighborhood buses" that would run on Saturday nights. Basically, to keep the rif raff down, most of the people coming from X5 route from the mall would congregate downtown because there wasn't enough buses running back to the city of Dayton itself. They came up with dedicated neighborhood routes to get these minors home ASAP, so the b.s. stayed at a minimum.

Given the fact that they have allowed the b.s. to get out of control during the week(After school especially), I just don't see them doing this.

That would make a lot of sense. Get the people back home, then they don't cause problems.

I hope they do it!

In most cases it was punk juveniles. The problem just seems to be "passed around". This was around the time Dayton Mall introduced the "MB 16" rule in 2003 or thereabouts

Summer in the city, as in a "Long Hot Summer"?

^Missed ya DS!

And if we're lucky that'll be the case. Climate change is perpetually making the great lakes region both colder and wetter.

What I meant about a long hot summer is this (sort of a generation gap here, methinks):
