Ok we have been here almost a week. We love the house and are trying to get settled but it's going to take forever with 2 small kids. The weather has been amazing! We have started to explore all of the different parks in centerville. We had take out from China Cottage and were surprised at how good it was.

One question. We have a water softener. The tap water tastes horrible! Is this something we should just get used to or do people just buy bottled?

It may just be something you have to get used too. I like the way it tastes. Of course, if you don't, bottled water is pretty cheap.

I have the same issue when I'm at college in Oxford. I just buy Ice Mountain haha. Downside is it costs a fair amount and it's not environmentally friendly. But aside from taking apart the faucets at the apartment, soaking them all in vinegar, and figuring out how I can clean my unit's water softener there is not all that much I can do....

Glad to hear everything else is going well though so far! And it is going to be hard to beat China Cottage anywhere in the area for Chinese take-out. They are a notch above the rest.

Try Kroger brand bottled water. It's like $2.49 for a 24 pack. You won't go wrong

Don't forget about another relatively simple fix - install an in-line filter.

We have one installed before our kitchen faucet, and the way it's installed it's before the T that splits off to the refrigerator.

So, for about $10 a year for a new filter, both the sink and fridge have completely tasteless water.

Housing - Pentek 158643 3/8" #10 3G Slim Line Clear Filter Housing

Filter - Pentek CBC-10 Carbon Block Filter Cartridge

More newbie questions:
Why is the whole area referred to as Dayton in addresses, even mailing addresses when places like centerville are separate towns? I've even had a computer autocorrect my centerville address to dayton. It's strange.

Last one why does the morning abc news team turn into the Fox News team at 8am? It's confusing.

Other than that we are adjusting well. The weather has been beautiful and we have had a great time exploring the parks in centerville and even made our way out to Youngs.

The area is beautiful and my husband is enjoying the easy commute.

A lot of unincorporated areas still use a Dayton mailing address, even if it's located in an outlying township. It hasn't caused any issues, as far as I can tell, with mail, etc.

The ABC22/FOX45 are affiliates of each other. If you check out their websites, especially the mobile versions, they are carbon copies of each other.
