I read one comment on Facebook comparing the left side of the D to Abraham Lincoln's profile. I don't think that - or VD - was what the university had in mind, eh? And what does it represent?

I also wonder the wisdom of changing the athletics logo only a few months after such huge national exposure. It makes little sense.

I suppose I'll get used to it, but I'm not buying any T-shirts with this logo on them, that's for sure.
I bet there is going to be a run on "old" UD apparel at the book store. I read this as that the change is only for athletics. Is that how everyone else takes it?

I took it as a change for the basketball team only

Right, it's just the new athletics logo.

Doesn't make it any less hideous!

Yeah, that was me. Thank you. Personally, I don't love the logo, but I like it a lot more than what we used to have. I just think they could have done better. I am tired of all the, "there is no U" complaints. Almost no schools have a U in their logo. UD wants to become a more national brand. Arizona = A. Ohio State = O. michigan = m. Michigan State = S. Etc....

It's what they should have gone with originally, IMO. It's the best version of the logo.

It's a step in the right direction. At least it doesn't so blatantly look like "VD" anymore.

And at least I don't have to order this shirt:

And Abraham Lincoln's profile isn't quite so apparent.

I still don't like it, but I don't hate it as much as the two tone logo.

I forget where I read this, but the university admitted that the navy blue instead of the traditional lighter, Marianist blue was solely because of Nike's uniform design. I'll try to find that link.
