Esrati is just another person who has failed to get elected to office. He should go have a seat with Leitzell

When I see this stuff, I'm reminded that we fought a revolution some time ago that was supposed to give citizens some basic rights when dealing with the police.

Look for John Oliver's bit on civil forfeiture on YouTube. Any cop can just take something from you if they want it.

Esrati's plan for public schools:

A plan for the Dayton Public Schools – Esrati

Good to get ideas out there, and I really like his initiative on this issue. Its the biggest aspect holding back Dayton itself from the other communities in the region. I don't know if adjusting the school year and adding technology alone will solve any problems, but they aren't bad ideas.

He goes about the testing issue differently than I would, but I agree with his perspective that it's crap. Again, I'm one who has more issues with using testing as a basis alone for ranking schools, allocating funding, and picking winners and losers, while Esrati is more focused on eliminating the hoops associated with the testing system.

Definitely a good read. Our educational system needs change. Glad Esrati at least is using his blog as a platform to get the word out about the necessity to change education.

SWOH,

Why don't you change your [Edit Your Details] to "threadmaster" instead of that booooooring "senior member?"

You've really helped organize this forum with threads that can be revived time and time again.
