Don't feel bad. The Dayton room is where I was meaning to put that Sam Hall thread that's in the Cincinnati room. While it can fit there because of his brother, it's Dayton where he grew up and where his father was a mayor of note and his brother a congressman of note.

Its a life worth review by Daytonians, and it was good of SWOH to fish it out for his list of notables.

And, I know this is off topic, but it seemed worth posting.

Sweeney's was a much happier experience--such great service! Food was good and I liked the decor. Prices better than M & S, too. Will definitely be back!

ETA: we ate ourselves silly--appetizer, entrees, dessert and it was only $70--and that included beer for the spouse. That had a killer selection of craft beers, too.
Nice report back, Mil Mon6, thanks for posting it!

Very sorry to hear McCormick and Schmick was dismal, but glad to hear the same wasn't true at Sweeney's.
It did look good, and it is great to know the best option is to go there for seafood.

It sucks that Arcade closed a couple years ago! Then again, I think they may have had major expenses being in the 111 building(West First street).

Not that it's local, but if you're ever in Indy, this place is superb:

Caplinger's Fresh Catch - Bringing the best of the sea to Indy

I literally stop for a meal (and often bring a cooler to buy something to bring home) whenever I'm driving to or through.

--------------

If you're into Sushi, I highly recommend Siam Pad Thai in Kettering for great nigiri and sashimi - and Kabuki in Centerville has seriously amazing rolls.

--------------

If your other half's into craft beers then you absolutely need to check out the many awesome microbreweries/brewpubs in the area. Like many spots around the country, we've had an explosion over the past few years - I think there are close to 15 in the greater Dayton region now. Dayton Beer Co. just opened their new location downtown and it has 36 Ohio beers on tap - pretty impressive selection, to say the least.

Harrison's in Tipp City: Dinner Menu for Harrison’s of Tipp City
and Greenfire's in Tipp: Greenfire Bistro :: Tipp City, OH

Also, Thai 9: Dayton?s premium Thai and Sushi Restaurant

My dad loves seafood; whenever he visits, he loves those places. He wants to go to Sushi Club when he comes down here next week. :-D

Downtown Oregon district is a place called Jays which has a great reputation. In Centerville there is a seafood restaurant called Sweeneys. If your into fixing meals for yourselves Dorothy Lane Markets,- an upscale market has a great selection of seafoods as do the newer Krogers stores with fresh seafood.
