I have a friend Looking to move to the area. She has 2 small kids and wants to know the best areas to live. She would be working at the base and interested in good schools, safe neighborhoods, the house doesn't have to be huge budget of probably $200-$250 Where she can have accepting neighbors if/when she finds a partner.

If she works on the base, I'm going do my usual "anything outside of I-675" recommendation - Beavercreek is closest, followed by Sugarcreek, Bellbrook, and Centerville in that order.

All of them have good schools. With regard to her being gay I doubt that would be an issue. The vast majority of people, even in more "conservative" areas, generally don't give a hoot what people do in their private lives. It may be different if she decides to spraypaint her lawn with a rainbow... short of that I don't see any problems.

One word of caution about Sugarcreek Township and Bellbrook however... there's only two good roads out of town, Franklin Street to Wilmington Pike and Feedwire Road. Both of them get pretty rough at rush hour, and you need to take one of those two roads to get on 675 north to get to the base.

Ok thanks! I didn't think there was any issues around here but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Since I have only been here a year And I've only met one same sex couple with kids.

Yellow Springs would also be a good place to check out, but there's usually not much on the market. (No houses appear on Zillow right now.) I've noticed that housing tends to run a bit higher there than elsewhere in the Dayton area.

^Agreed with Tarheel, can't imagine a much better place to be in that situation than Yellow Springs.

Other places that might work well are Northmont Schools (Englewood/Clayton), Kettering, and the Oregon District while sending the kids to C-J HS.
