Only if the hoods run there.

As far as crime we moved to Centerville from the DC area and have felt incredibly safe in all of the southern suburbs. We have spent sometime in Beavercreek because DH works on the base and it's the same thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by that statement.

Just ignore them.

As far as safety. I personally feel safe everywhere I go. Are there parts of Dayton to avoid? Sure, but there isn't a reason to go there. Most suburbs are really safe in the area, but especially the ones south of Dayton (I also know this area better). To me, if I ever feel unsafe to the point I worry about keeping my door shut and locked or I don't think I can go for a run, I am moving. This area is really safe. I don't know what the data will say, but it is. I've lived here for 35 years and I have never felt unsafe.

Well, if someone decides to rob a gas station, he/she is not likely to stand around in the vicinity. He/she is more likely to try to get as far away as possible. ...Ideally to get arrested wherever he/she manages to get to before running out of gas, but that can only be preferably without incident.

From what I understand take it as crime happens everywhere. Which is true, but rarely do you even hear about shoplifting in Beavercreek, much less robberies or violence.

I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

Are there any schools I should be weary of? My kids are school age.

Dayton public, Trotwood, Jeff. Twp., that's about it. The top ~70% of all schools are virtually the same IMO, regardless of the state. Primary differences come in special programs and abilities/resources to handle handicaps.

I don't trust 90% of area charter schools.

Also Fairborn and Xenia get lower scores than Beavercreek and Bellbrook on school quality. They also have a lot more economically disadvantaged students
