I have been trying to get information about the many four-plex, brick, mostly one bedroom apartments in Kettering just across Shroyer from Oakwood. I have talked to several people and have gotten several different answers . I have been told that it is a nice area and the apartments are generally nice but must be taken on a case by case basis as they have several different owners. I have also spoken to someone who said that it is just an ok area and has a large number of turnover because it is generally a lower income area. Another person told me that they are majority Section 8 housing that were used for the people that were forced to leave when Parkside was torn down and that the city of Oakwood fought to not allow it but lost.

What is the real story on this area? Thanks

I don't know about the story behind the place but in Kettering as in most places you need to watch for the usual suspects when picking a place to live, such as prevalence of Section 8 renters (they will bill themselves as 'affordable communities' or something similar). That usually spells trouble. Some parts of Kettering are really hit and miss, but as SWOH accurately says, it's really a case by case basis.

Generally speaking, you get what you pay for.

They at one time were owned by what was called Dayton Victory apts. Over the years they kept some of them and some sold to individuals. Was in there myself talking with manager and was told they do not take section 8. Was checking for my grandson as he is on SSI. I loved that area and started out in a one bdr then moved to one of the two bdr townhouses years ago. They also have several 3bdrs. The office is on Aberdeen ave .Believe name has changed to Kettering victory apts. 297-8767.
