My mom lived in Kettering for years--I grew up there, but have been gone for nearly 30 years. Mom moved out to Texas with us after my dad passed away. She now wants to move back to Kettering. She is becoming more frail and has balance issues. I want her to move into an assisted living type facility. She wants to be on her own in a condo--mostly because she feels she can't afford assisted living. She doesn't have much of a nest egg. Retirement communities around here (Amarillo, TX) that then move up in levels of care are upwards of $3,000 a month to start and she cannot afford that. Are there reasonably priced facilities in the Kettering area?

Visit your local HUD office and ask them to look into the matter for you.

Visit because if you are sitting there they can give you any papers that might be worthwhile. And, besides that, if you are sitting there, they have to try to do something about you.

I'm pretty sure Martin Luther Manor is a viable option. I know of a friend whose mother lived there and she paid 74 bucks a month. It's not too shabby of a place either. And Carpathian has a good idea also

I'm not the best with this, but I can recommend Hearth & Home in Vandalia. Not sure about current pricing.
