Wink Need info on suburbs of Dayton, esp. schools

Possibility of taking a job about 30 min. outside of Dayton. I really don't want to live the small town that the job is in. What are good suburbs close to the city. I need great school district for sure. Not so hip w/cookie cutter neigborhoods where the houses look the same. I'm kinda a city girl. Need a place w/character. Any help would be appreciated as I am clueless. Any websites I should look at?

Oakwood sounds like it would fit you best. By far the most amazing schools in the Dayton suburbs. It's an inner ring suburb, so many of the homes have that older character you can't find in most new homes. Oakwood is also somewhat central to the Dayton region. If you are working 30 min outside Dayton, it should still be about 30-45 min from that location.

If you can afford it, Im not sure what the prices are like now with the market, but the Oregon district. Its right in the heart of the city. Gorgeous historical homes. Downside is it is the entertainment area...but great restaurants would be just blocks from your doorstep. Not sure about DPS but Chaminade- Julienne, a Catholic High School, is about 6 blocks from the Oregon.

The prices in the Oregon district aren't too bad. They are probably on par with the rest of the area suburbs. But I would avoid DPS schools and opt for private or catholic schools. CJ is pretty well respected in the area. Some of the side streets seem quaint and the entertainment portion is on the East 5th drag, not the whole district.

Thanks, we live in the Kirkwood suburb of St. Louis now, so I was looking for something similar. Oakwood sounds best from what I have gathered. Oregon district sounds like our Soulard or CWE, which is also great, but don't really want to do private school.
