Mega dittos on El Meson Macarena! Not "Mexican" but oh oh oh so good. Amazing menu and everything on it is fantastic. It is our hands down favorite restaurant of any kind in Dayton!!!

Don't worry, there is plenty and I mean PLENTY of authentic Mexican around here.
You also have the luxury of excellent, authentic Greek, Italian and Indian, just to name a few.
One thing I've always enjoyed about dayton is its dining opportunities.... with some experience you'll be able to find exactly what you want to quell a craving.

I can't believe no one mentioned Abuelo's!! I think it's a bit of a drive (short), but most definitely worth it. It's been my favorite Mexican restaurant ever since I tried it 3 years ago in Texas. Authentic food, good prices and portions, nice service and cool atmosphere.

Try Elsa's on Linden Ave on the east side. It is not too far from Woodman Dr. and US 35. The Mexican food there is very delicious and on Fri. and Sat. nights the place gets packed.

Otters21, I'm glad you've had a good experience at Elsa's; We ate at their Centerville location once and came away with the impression that cheap alcohol is their biggest draw...

Never ate at the Centerville location and I only ordered beer with my meal at the Linden Ave location so I never experienced their brands of alcohol.

I came away from Elsa's (Centerville) with something I didn't want to... some serious G.I. issues!!! Nasty!
First though...if there are burritos and the like on the menu, it's really more Tex-Mex than "authentic" Mexican.
I just spent four years in San Antonio with outstanding Tex-Mex and truly authentic Mexican as well. On top of that I grew up in Eastern Washington with a 70% hispanic population. I'm no expert...but I'm a pretty good judge.
Admittedly, I need to go out and explore my options here...but you don't come from SATX to Dayton and expect a whole lot in this regard.
Now I have found some really good Italian! And yes...I lived there too (Italy that is).

Cool! Could you give some (in yr opinion) better Italian places here, that you've tired.
