Sinclair is not on the west side, it is downtown. As long as you are around Sinclair, you should be fine. They have patrol in the parking lots, and park & ride if you need to park far from your car. Are you planning on living in the area, too? I have two step-daughters at Sinclair, and they've never had any problem.

As long as you stay right around campus, you'll be fine. 3rd st is awful, god awful. Just kidding it's not that bad but it's bad. 3rd st. is more of a vacant area more so than anything. Just don't were short skirts at night, that goes for both guys and gals......LMAO!!!!

I know the area well. We lived down the street from Sinclair at The Landing for 8 years, and never had a problem.

If your only options are the Springfield St apartment or Beavercreek, I'd go with Beavercreek. The communities safer, less seedy, has more commercial business, and has an overall better reputation. Springfield St isn't in the best part of Dayton (that would be downtown where penelopelp lives). Springfield St's only leg up is its commute time which is maybe 20 minutes shorter than from Beavercreek. Beavercreek's easy access to I675 and US35 makes getting downtown easy, even in rush hour now that they have all three lanes open.

Overall, unless you can find something downtown, next door to UD, or maybe in Oakwood, Beavercreek is probably your best option.

B-Creek is a great place to live. Springfield is cool as well. Sinclair is a great school. I did my first 2 years there than transfered to a 4 year Uni.

I went to Sinclair back in the eighties when there were not half as many buildings. They also have a bigger parking garage than just the underground one. Security has been stepped up over the years. It is a quick hop on interstate 75 but crossing the West Third street bridge is not advisable.
Just use common sense when walking to the parking garage or around the grounds. Walk with a group or companion, be alert of your surroundings and if something seems fishy request security personnel to check it out.

It could be he is talking about the apartments off of Springfield Street in Riverside, that big complex south of Springfield St and west of Harshman.

Those might be pretty cheap but still OK places for students.
