Middletown
Good afternoon Paintballer. I hate to beat a dead horse (not really!!) but I came across this letter to the editor in the Middletown Journal.
Letters to the Editor for July 21, 2006
Ronald Reagan once said that “government isn’t the answer to our problems, government is the problem.” That statement was never truer than it is today right here in Middletown.

I must disagree with Paintballer, who said "Trotwood is NW of downtown Dayton. Trotwood is home to the Salem Mall and has quite a bit of entertainment. It has only about 7,000 people and is very very safe with a great school system"
Are you serious!? Trotwood is a hellhole! obviously you havent lived near that area. also the dayton Mall isnt Located in Kettering its located in Miamisburg. which is a very nice small town.
If you are planning on moving to the area very nice suburbs are, Huber Heights is one of the suburbs I didnt like, but Springboro, Franklin, Beavercreek is extremely nice and Fairborn isnt to bad either. also there is Xenia, Enon, Medway, Eaton and one of the quaintest of all towns Yellow Springs.
On the subject of Middletown, I have friends who live there and they say that it is indeed going downhill. Personally Middletown never impressed me and I wouldnt live there.
The Dayton area offers so much! I loved it when I lived there. Im orginally from nebraska but I consider Ohio my home. You wont be disappointed and I bet you find youll never want to leave!.

Well obviously the inner-city is not the best place to raise a kid or even live there for that matter. Why do you think the suburbs are booming these days? When i went through i thought Trotwood was nice. Anyway where were you originally from in Nebraska? Are you planning on moving back to Ohio? And when you lived in the Dayton Metro did you live in Riverside? I dont know what that suburb is like, but in 1990 it had only about 1,000 residents. Now today it has over 24,000. Fast growing town right there.

LOL it can be bad. Esp. through Dayton and Cincinnati because the area is growing so much. There is some spots with construction, but there are times when you are completely stopped. Its really not so bad on some of the smaller interstates. I learned that out quick. When i leave from Mason and go directly to Cincinnati. I would try some of the smaller interstates.

Wow...I really have to disagree with you paintballer. I don't know where you are getting your information from. I live in Fairborn right now and work in Dayton. My job depends on the economy of the Dayton area and I talk to 10 to 20 people a day about the situation in Dayton.
The Dayton area has lost numerous of businesses and jobs (GM, Delphi, Reynolds & Reynolds) in the last two years. Middletown in not a growing place. The only big employer in Middletown is AK Steel and they are still in a lockout. If they don't agree soon, I don't see how the economy is going to grow. Middletown is not a nice area.
The places that are growing in Dayton area: Springboro, Bellbrook, and Beavercreek. The Dayton area are losing the younger adults. There was an article in the Dayton Daily News (front page on a Sunday) about it not too long ago.

^ If you read my other posts, I have said that i wouldnt suggest Dayton as the first place on a moving decision. Dayton's metro is not doing terrible. The city itself needs work, and city officials are working on that. The suburbs are doing great though.
Also, Middletown is growing. Check out the population growths from 2000-2005. It has went from 46,000 to just over 51,000 in four years.

Actually, paintballer, the +5K population growth you quoted for Middletown was from 1990-2000. It was 51K in both 2000 and 2005. The cities of Middletown and Hamilton are not nice places in general - they are similar to Lorain and Elyria (west of Cleveland).

Butler County is GREAT...as long as you STAY OUT OF MIDDLETOWN AND HAMILTON.

And like the analogue to Cleveland, Butler County, outside those two towns is pretty nice, like Lorain County is nice outside Elyria and Lorain.
Hamilton is getting better, but Middletown has a LONG way to go.
