Smile Info about Lower Riverdale area in Dayton

I'm semi-retired and looking to move to a nice area in Ohio that's not too expensive and safe. I've seen a real estate posting for a house in the Lower Riverdale area on Five Oaks Avenue that looks to be very interesting. Can anyone give me any feed back about the area? Is it safe or an area to avoid because of crime/drugs, etc. Any feedback is appreciated!

Five Oaks is an area that has not held up well as far as property values, in comparison to other parts of Dayton. If you are looking at older, historic homes, inside the City of Dayton, try the Oregon District or South Park, McPherson Town, or Grafton Hill- more expensive, but they have maintained their value more than the Five Oaks area.

If you are looking for historic homes in the general Dayton area, Fairborn, Tipp City, Troy all have historic districts that might meet your needs, but are more expensive.

Ohio has any number of small towns that have historic homes- West Liberty, Urbana, Findlay, Wapok, Celina... I'm a real estate agent, ping me if I can help you any further.

Thank you for your reply, Teri L. I'm trying to get hold of an agent who has a listing on Five Oaks avenue right now. The exterior of the house isn't very impressive but the interior looks very interesting and is in my price range. If I don't hear from him, I'll ping you again! Thanks!

I've been doing cable installs in Dayton for over 5 years. I would not recommend the Five Oaks area of Dayton to anyone. Its on the borderland of where a lot of the heaviest crime in Dayton happens. There are much better areas of Dayton to look. I do agree though that some of these houses in that area have beautiful interiors and at one time would have been great homes to have. Its a pity that they cannot move these old homes to better parts and put them back up.
