Default Moving Back after 35 years- yea!!

After living worldwide for 28 years and in Tucson for 5, we're moving back as soon as we can sell the house. We're retired and on a budget.

Springfield and Fairborn look to be the most affordable-property tax wise and housing price wise. We've pretty much eliminated Centerville, Oakwood, Kettering, Springboro, Beavercreek and Washington Township from our search. Xenia is out - well, because as a native, I remember the twisters that used to hit Xenia and Urbana and jump over Springfield

Open to suggestions and since I'm not familiar with Fairborn, some recommendations for reasonably nice parts of the city to live. I graduated from Wright State in 1973, but it has changed so much since then.
Crime isn't an issue with us. After living in Tucson, I don't think the crime rate could be worse.

Suggestions?

For Fairborn, if you dont mind older homes the streets between Central and Maple north of downtown Fairborn are nice, as are some of the streets around downtown. These are neighborhoods with trees and sidewalks, so it has sort of an older suburb/midwest small town feel to it.

There are lots of 1950s and 1960s plats, too.
