Default Relocated to ohio in 2008

I relocated to the dayton area in 2008 from nyc. Big change we looked around dayton and settled to the north in troy, ohio. Troy is a beautiful historical city and is a great place to live and raise kids. We also considered centerville, and franklin . Centerville is nice but a little more crowded and expensive and franklin was our second choice after troy. It takes us about 20 minutes to get into downtown dayton and 1 hr to cincinnati. If you like baseball dayton has a great miknor league team and we are only 1 hour to columbus, ohio also. Good luck in your relocation.

Don't worry so much about the proximity to Cincy, it's close by no matter where you are in the Dayton area. For organic/ health food, DLM is SO much better than the chain stores so many other metro areas are infected with. You will wonder how you even considered shopping at whole foods. However, if this is your top priority, along with your other requirements, move to Oakwood. Despite the fact you will be a little further away from cincy, you'll find that Columbus is only about 1 and a quarter hours away, and only 1.5 hours to Indy, situating yourself in a very nice position within a roughly 9 million person metropolitan triangle, and all of the cultural opportunities that come with it. You might also want to consider Bellbrook/sugarcreek twp., as well, which has great shopping, good access to UD via wilmington Pike, and IS also right off of I-675, giving you two malls that are about 10-15 minutes away, along with extremely easy access to Cincinnati and Columbus. However, it's about 20 minutes to DLM if I remember correctly, so that's a bit of a drawback from moving there.Good Luck!

I try to do that too, but it says I need to "spread the reputation around more". Whatever that means. lol

So glad to hear you will be working at my alma mater...what a wonderful school! As many people have mentioned, Springboro and Centerville are all great locations. However, perhaps take a look at Waynesville, which is where we live. We are less than 20 minutes from Springboro, Centerville, Lebanon, Fields Ertel (Mason), I-75, and just around the corner from I-71 leading to Columbus or Cincinnati. When it comes to shopping, eating out, or play dates, we are never at a loss for choices. Waynesville is known as the antique capital of the midwest. A very quaint town with minimal crime. You could choose from a home with acreage or live in a neighboorhood. We attend a wonderful church about 15 minutes from us that is a non-denominational Christian church, CrossView Christain. Lots of young families with children, offering something for every age group. As long as you do not mind the drive (would take you 30-40 minutes to get to UD), Waynesville is a wonderful place to live! Good luck with your search and your new job.

Waynesville is really nice. It's quite picturesque, and you are close to that bike trail along the little Miami River, and Cesars Creek Lake for boating and swimming. Though the place is growing they havnt been overwhelmed with development yet, so the place preserves its charm. One of the best of the smaller towns in SW Ohio.

If you want less traffic move to Butler Township or Vandalia. Great area. Nice sense of community with alot of ammentities and has some of the best schools in the state. Excellent rating and Helke Elementary is one of the best schools in the state. Also there are alot of food choices cropping up in this area since it is growing and newer. Southbound is much more trafficy and aggervating. Vandalia is only about fifteen or twenty minutes north of UD.
