Default August temperatures for shipping pets

We're due to arrive in early August with senior pets, and we're concerned about temperatures on arrival, as airlines wont let animals fly in temperatures exceeding 85. We gather there's also high humidity giving a 'real-feel' of higher temps (we've lived in southern US).
We're thinking of postponing pets' travel until fall.
Are there any weather-watchers who can offer observations/predictions? Is October likely to be significantly cooler than September? And is August always hot and steamy?
Thanks in anticipation.

It's Ohio - we often joke "if you don't like the weather, wait for five minutes". And with climate change, it's harder to predict. I guess the short answer is that the weather isn't consistently one way for long stretches of time. There are some times in August when you might need a sweatshirt or jeans at night and it's only 80 and very low humidity during the day. There are other times when it's 85 and humid. I think we broke 90 just a couple of days all of last year. And our humidity doesn't compare to the South. September is usually fantastic weather with what we call Indian Summer. Low humidity, highs around 80 or less.

Hi,
we will arrive from germany in Dayton in July. We are flying 3 older dogs and we are worried about the same thing. However, Delta will fly them directly from Frankfurt Germany to Cincinnati. We are also hoping that everything will go well.
Good luck!
Mel
