Stop reporting lies to make your district (vandalia-butler) look better. I will report you to the moderator if you continue to post misinformation like this. It does NO good to people who are looking for real and accurate information when deciding what area they would like to reside in. I get you love Vandalia. . .in fact all your posts are about Vandalia, but STOP bashing other cities/schools with your twisted data. I will call you out every time, because it simply HAS to stop. You are doing NO ONE any favors.

For those of you who are interested on how schools stack up in the state, I urge you to check the state of Ohio's website: ODE - Home

In fact, Northmont (who is listed in said person's post, is actually rated higher than Vandalia-Butler) and contrary to the post, is in fact one of the BEST districts in the area, and not one of the worst.

Also, Northmont and Vandalia-Butler are arch-rivals, which may have to do with said inaccurate data. Futhermore, Huber Heights and West Carrollton are considered good/effective districts in the Dayton area and no where near the worst.

For those of you who want the REAL data direct from the state of Ohio's website, here is how they rank the districts in the Dayton Area:

Here's the district wide results:

Oakwood 107.8
Centerville 104.6
Bellbrook 104.5
Springboro 104
Tipp City 103
Beavercreek 102.9
Northmont 101.5
Vandalia-Butler 101.2
Huber Heights 94.6
West Carrollton 93.2
.
Fairborn 91.4
.
Mad River 91.1
.
Northridge 84.9
.
Trotwood 81.6
.
Jefferson 75.5
.
Dayton 70

You know it would be interesting to compare ACT and SAT scores between districts. There would be a skew as it would measure college-bound students, but you'd also be comparing the best prepared or most motivated students since kids dont take the ACE or SAT unless they do plan on continuing their education.

Funny you should mention this. . .the state is actually considering legislation that would replace the OGT with the ACT. So, all Ohio students would have to take the ACT and meet a certain threshold in order to graduate.

The Mean ACT score for most of the top districts in Dayton (Centerville, Bellbrook, Beavercreek, Springboro, Tipp. . .etc.) ranges from 23 to 24.

Oakwood's is 26.

Also something interesting to note........

You forgot many of the academically top-rated schools that are smaller and a little more isolated, such as the Bethel school district in Maimi County that recently tested highest in the couhty on the OGT's, Miami East, West Milton, Dixie, Twin Valley South, and there's also a nationally-ranked district up in Mercer or Shelby county, as well (only about 3 or 4 districts in the metro area were able to achieve that, along with the stellar Stivers High School in the Dayton Public school district)

The reason why I noted this was because some of the top districts, such as Bethel which borders Vandalia-Butler, the original topic, and others that are nearby, were shunned from the list.

Bethel wasn't really shunned, but it's not really considered one of the best districts in the Dayton area. . .it's a good district, but it's not even close to what an Oakwood, Centerville, Bellbrook or even Vandalia can offer a student.

There's a reason that the OGT test is about to become obsolete. Many Ohio kids are getting into college and flunking out, because academically they are not prepared. They are finding schools are teaching to the OGT test, so they can make their scores look good.. .but in the process kids are not getting the tools/education to successful in college. That's why it looks like the ACT is soon going to replace the OGT.

Agreed, there's no way that Bethel or any of the other schools I listed (except for that one way up north in the valley I can't remember...) can really compare well to Oakwood, Centerville, Stivers, B-Creek, etc., but I find it amusing that they are frequently ignored despite their close proximity to the city.

Anyways, you are correct, the OGT's are pointless. No one cares about the scores, and they don't enable students to compete on a national level, which is essential in this day and age. Also leads to my issues with the hudreds of idiotic GPA systems and variations of standard classes floating around across the nation, but another day, another arguement.
