I would argue that poverty and lack of jobs/opportunity, etc. are only symptoms of a greater problem. That problem, IMO is the hood mentality, where the homies be pimpin' and the posse is the family and the gangstas rule. It's where the perception of life is value on the cheap, government is the source of supply and the heights to be scaled are climbing above 22" chrome wheels on one's ride. Where a corrupt culture and educational system market self esteem, luxury consumption and instant gratification over values such as faith, personal responsibility and achievement through hard work, the soul becomes rotten and dies. It is a perfect vision of hell on this side of eternity. Unlike the other side, hell on this side is something one can escape from.
