Groceries?
Chinese: China Cottage in Centerville

Italian: Mama DiSalvo's in Kettering

Pizza: This one is hard for me. Spinoza's (Fairfield Commons Mall) isn't bad due to its variety and styles, but that's a sit down place, a.k.a no delivery. For delivery, I like LaRosa's and Milano's. (both have numerous locations around Dayton)

Mexican Food: Don't eat enough Mexican to really know. But for a burrito, I like the local staple, Hot Head's. (again, numerous locations)

Burgers: Despite being a national chain, I enjoy Reb Robin. (Fairfield Commons Mall)

Subs: Penn Station and Submarine House with Penn Station coming out on top by a hair. I enjoy the club, despite it being bad for my health 30 years down the road. (numerous locations around Dayton)

Wings: Not a big wing eater so no opinion on that.

Groceries: For gourmet, you can't beat Dorthy Lane Market. The closest one to me is in Oakwood (and rather inconvienent as it is tiny) so I usually go to Trader Joe's or the new Fresh Fare. I kind of expect Joe's to move as there are now three gourmet grocery stores in a mile radius, but that's for another thread. Same with DLM opening in Beavercreek. Kroger's is great for essentials though. (DLM in Oakwood, Washington Twp, and Spingboro; Trader Joe's in Kettering; Fresh Fare in Ketting; Kroger's, most suburban shopping centers).

As a side note on groceries, not really in the Dayton area, but Jungle Jim's in Fairfield is supposedly a fesitival of foods. Going down to check it out this weekend.

Chinese food? - Young Chow (Stroop & Far Hills, Oakwood... or is it Kettering?)

Italian food? - Figlio (T&C Shopping Center, Kettering... yah, I know it's not authentic Italian, but Italian food really isn't my thing)

Pizza? - Cassanos

Mexican food? - there is no authentic Mexican food here. <sigh> If anyone can prove me wrong, I'll be a happy camper!

Burgers? - hands down: SLYDERS (on Watervliet in Belmont). Runner up: Bullwinkles in downtown Miamisburg

Subs? - W.G. Grinders (T&C Shopping Center, Kettering) ... their Chicken Cordon Bleu sub is to DIE FOR.

Wings? - Bdubs, I guess. They are the same in every city across this great land - but I guess I've learned to love the consistency. Asian zing sauce. YUM.

Groceries? - Dorothy Lane Market
I'm going to add one more category: BEST RESTAURANT

...and I vote Amber Rose!!!

Jungle Jim's (the only I know of is in the area is in Hamilton...same one?...)

Jungle Jim's is great! They have pretty much any kind of imported food you could want, within reason of course. The foods are authentic. Example, many of the foods are packaged using the characters of their respective country's native language. This can make for some "WTF is that?" moments but for me that's part of the fun. Plan some time when you go there and really mill around. Great place.

Chinese - can't say, hardly eat it.

Italian Food - Franco's Ristorante Italiano

Pizza - Pizza Factory (for authentic New York style hit Flying Pizza Downtown. They sell pizza by the slice and that's a rarity in this part of the country.)

Mexican - Elsa'a

Burgers - Tank's Bar and Grill

Subs - Charlie's Deli and Catering (best kept secret stuff here. In Old North Dayton on Troy Street.)

Wings - It's a chain but Smokey Bones smoked wings are freaking awesome. They are smoked, deep fried and drizzled with wing sauce...really tasty.

Groceries - Trader Joe's, Dorothy Lane, and for meats Dot's.

On another note - check http://www.branchcreekfarm.com/

They have excellent grass fed beef and sell it in bulk. I buy half side of beed at a time. Fits in a 7cu. ft. freezer and lasts just over a year. They also sell farm fresh eggs. Blue and Brown.
