Citizens 4 Change, Dayton
From The Desk Of "Citizens 4 Change" Dayton
www.ourdayton.com
As we keep getting closer to election day, many people would have you believe that if you don't vote a certain way, then basically you're condeming Dayton to a certain death. In response to this, I just wanted to say that those people couldn't be further from the truth. Whom you vote for is your business, restoring this city is the business of REAL people like you and I, with no hidden political agenda. We're NOT here to endorse a certain political figure, Independent, Republican, Liberal, or Democrat. We're here to work, we were formed to get involved and get the job done. Let's talk for a second about just what REAL leadership is. 1. It's the providing of motivation to accomplish the mission (in this case a better Dayton) 2. It's the providing of direction in that mission accomplishment and 3. It's the providing of purpose, while in the pursuit of a goal. Now ask yourself this before you go and cast your vote; "Is the candidate of my choosing providing what I as a resident want and need, or will they be able to provide this if elected?" If the answer is yes for you, then vote for that person, if the answer is no, then don't vote for that said individual. I'm here to to tell you that regardless of who wins this election...the bottom line is that the REAL people ARE going to be the ones who bring about the REAL change to Dayton. As everyone is well aware of, our last poll via www.ourdayton.com was a success, and as a result "Citizens 4 Change" will now begin work in the Southern Westwood Community of Dayton. We're very excited about starting our operations there early next year and within the next few days we will feature the details of just what will be done inside of this great community. The far Northwest boundry line for Quadrants (A) & (B) will be the intersection of Oak Ridge Drive & North Gettysburg Ave. The far Northeast boundry line for this will be the intersections of Oak Ridge Drive and North Mathison St. The Southernmost boundry line will be West Third Street. This is going to be the first sector of Westwood that we'll adopt and from there and ONLY after certain changes are made will we move further north and west. I again thank everyone who has supported us along the way and rest assured that when you see us in your neighborhood, we WILL listen, we WILL work together, and WE WILL restore the pride to our beautiful city. Our 1st public meeting will be held on 12-19-2009 at the Dayton Metro Lib at 215 East 3rd St. 10am-12pm. We hope to see you there and know that at "Citizens 4 Change" your VOICE is crucial and needed for a better and safer Dayton!

I agree with your post to a point. Long lasting change, the type of change you and I are after, will eventually take citizens working with, and holding city/state/federal government accountable to represent the good of the people that they represent according to the Constitution of the United States.

Unification and what it will do for Dayton
The whole concept behind "Citizens 4 Change" is a simple one, a better and safer Dayton through the work of her residents and small business owners. Seriously, who knows this city better...one politician or those among us who live, eat, breathe and sleep in this city all the time? The answer is clear..REAL people like you and I will be the ones who will bring about this REAL change! At our inagural meeting in December, we're going to be discussing a wide variety of issues and it's at this meeting where YOUR voice will take center stage. Right now, I like to refer to this as the first phase of operations for a better Dayton...because we're in the process of gathering the thoughts and ideas of many a concerned residents alike. Phase two will begin on December 19th 2009, when we come together for the first time. Also it is at this meeting where we will be unleashing our economic plan for the improvement of Dayton; codenamed; "Dimes 4 Dayton" With this plan, we will be able to put 2,000,000 dollars back into our communities and neighborhoods within 24 months, and the best part is that this will come about by NOT the rasing of taxes. Phase two will also consist of organizing our communities and using that said economic boost to clean these up to lure the right business into our city. I look most forward to seeing you there, and know that at "Citizens 4 Change" our primary concern is YOU and your voice. As the Executive Director of the group, I'm NOT asking for your money, just your voice...because early next year during "Operation" Westwood you will see first hand the impact which it will have. On an even more exciting note, we now have 335 FRIENDS of a better Dayton on Facebook, 425 FANS of a better Dayton on Facebook and and 301 MEMBERS of our Group "Citizens 4 Change!" 119 Members in our cause, 38 Friends on Twitter, 10 on Myspace, 13 on Google connect and 2000+ concerned citizens who have checked out our flagship website www.ourdayton.com
UNITED WE WILL SUCCEED and WE WILL NOT FALTER NOR FAIL IN OUR QUEST TO BETTER DAYTON!

No, one politician is not going to change Dayton anymore than one politician is responsible for Dayton's decline. However, there are countless resources, paid for by tax dollars, at the city level that we need to tap into. Also, working in conjunction with Priority Boards, neighborhood associations, Churches, other groups in Dayton is crucial for lasting change and for uniting this city. I am assuming you are thinking along these lines already. Even the City Commission needs to be held accountable to Dayton's residents. In my opinion your efforts are vital and they will have the most impact coupled with running headlong into Dayton's governmental resources. In case I haven't said so before I appreciate your efforts and am interested in seeing them in action.

Unity 2
You're most correct, lasting change will come about by working with other community leaders ie church leaders for example. This is currently being worked on most diligently on our end. The bottom line is that this WILL succeed and it will be because of each and every person who steps forward inside of their communities. Look for us in Westwood starting early next year and if you can make it out to our 1st public meeting in Dec, then please do so. Thanks for your support and I'll keep this forum posted as we get closer to kickoff!

Concept of Operations early 2010
JAN 1st - JAN 31st 2010
During this month we will hold a three day long "Citizens 4 Change" Canned Food Drive, at two locations across the city of Dayton. One will be held in center of town and one will be held at a as yet to be named area in the Southern part of Dayton, probably around the Miamisburg area. You will be able to bring as many canned food items that you would like or you may make a small donation...whichever you prefer. Bottom line is 100% of whatever's brought in will go into back into our communities. The purpose of this "Food Drive" is to help "Citizens 4 Change" gain even more added exposure and build up our level of trust within the communities which we intend to operate in. During this three day long drive, we're going to be passing out community newsletters, business cards, surveys and more flyers. This will help to spread the word of "Citizens 4 Change" and just what it is that we hope to accomplish. The hours of operation for this drive will be between the hours of 8am - 6pm. At our 1st "Citizens 4 Change: meeting on 12-19-2009, the exact dates of this drive will be announced...along with the address of the two locations where you will be able to bring your canned food donation. Our goal for this drive will be between 500 and 700 cans!
FEB 1st - FEB 28th 2010
This is the chosen month where everything will start to come together, and we'll begin a three day process of laying the groundwork inside of our 1st community for improvement (Westwood). This will be done via the first day by our canvassing every street with "Citizens 4 Change" flyers along with a meet and greet with at least 100 hundred residents who live there. Day two will involve the placement of a few "Citizens 4 Change" signs that list this community as being "adopted" for improvement. Day three will result in the culmination of our 1st "Town hall" meeting where we'll be able to meet with even more residents, in our further attempts to get them to voice their concerns on what they would like to see worked on the most.
MARCH 21th-APRIL 21st 2010
After the news of our intentions and advertisement of this project have been allowed to sink in within the community, we'll start our three day long "Citizens 4 Change" Operation; "Clean sweep." Literally, we're going to cross the community from the west to east, north down south in separate groups working in unison to begin the cleanup of the area. This is of course NOT the only thing which will be done within this chosen community, but there will be more to follow in another detailed article. This December I'll be going into our chosen area to do what I like to call a leaders Reconnaissance...looking at 4 things.... 1. The condition of any and all public schools within the neighborhoods, 2. The quality of living for our elderly residents there, 3. The general condition of Housing, and 4. The presence of our Dayton Police force. Our goal for our 1st complete community overhaul is five months. As we grow stronger and develop even more of a support base, we WILL be able to cut this down to a little over 2 months.
The purpose of this article has been to give you a general scope of future operations.
Thanks
