Let's cast aside our differences!
I want everyone to take a step back for a second....are we seriously going to bicker about the lack of leadership that exists in our Dayton. When are WE the RESIDENTS going to wake up and realize that if we want a better Dayton then WE have to be the ones to create it. Why are we still waiting on someone else to fix our problems, when we certainly have the ability to do that ourselves? One politician, two politician, three politician....IT doesn't matter...if we could get a good majority of everyday people like you and I on the same page for a better community then we could fix this city ourselves. I for one have grown sick of the political bickering, it's time that we cast our differences aside no matter what they may be and work in unison to restore the luster to Dayton. That's why I started "Citizens 4 Change" and guess what if you want to work with REAL people in this quest then I invite you to check us out. For those of you who do not believe that we the residents can fix this city ourselves, then you can sit on the sidelines and watch. Either way we're going to get the job done and it will be because of people just like you.

I agree with you on so many things. However, I am for re-claiming the government because they are taking my tax dollars and mis-appropriating them into areas that do not serve the common good. Until this issue is straightened out I will bicker, fight, quarrel, vote, and take what ever action deemed necessary to set these things straight. And of course involve myself in efforts like the one you are initiating.
I want to see this thing succeed. But please don't endeavor to ask me to keep silent when many grave injustices are perpetrated on the people by the people entrusted to help provide for the people who pay them. Kind of a big ass run on toungue twister...lol

I mis-worded something. I know you are not trying to keep me quiet. I should have said "ask me not to respond".
My apologies, and sorry for the double post.

I can certainly respect what you are saying, and I wanted to say this in return. I have been in the Army for 9 years and I am leaving the military to do "Citizens 4 Change" full time. The choice for me to leave the Army is simple, my community needs help and help is what it will get. Even as I type this letter I am sitting here in Iraq on my last tour. 10 more years and I could retire from the Army, but where would our city be? Thanks for your comments and above all your support as we get this off the ground.

Ummm, if you are leaving the army because the city of Dayton needs you, I hope you will have another source of income. The last thing Dayton needs is another unemployed resident.

Wow. What a great way to be supportive of someone who is putting their own dreams on hold in order to try to help a city they love so much.

Citizens 4 Change
If we want this to suceed, as in working in unison for a better city then I won't have to be looking for another job after the army. The fact of the matter is that we have a strong support base, with some very strong people who are behind our efforts and we WILL succeed. It will be however because of YOU...and the residents inside of our communities. Thusfar, we're organized down to the community level with 1 Exec Director, 8 Community Captains, 17 Junior Organizers....and we're also poised to release our 36 month long fundraiser for our most disadvantaged communities; codenamed: "Dimes 4 Dayton" Besides this, I've also been blessed with a very supportive better half who feels the exact same way as do I and we start our 1st NON PROFIT work in the Westwood Community early 2010. A new year = the path to a better Dayton!

I know what it takes to be successful and let's just say that I've been blessed as of late, and I for one intend to give back to my community in the form of "Citizens 4 Change" Real People = Real Results! Thanks for your comments!

Dayton does need more PEOPLE and CITIZENS to get involved and actually INVOLVED. But I think totally saying the leadership is not going to help us is ridiculous. Your only saying that because we've had horrible mayors and city managers lately. Our latest mayor is...well...to put it kindly "loopy" and our city manager ditched us and headed south for another mid-sized city. Leadership just looks like it can't help right now because we've had unfortunate leadership in the past few years. Thats why I hope Leitzell wins the mayor's spot.
