I used to take my wife to Easton when we were dating in 2001. I think I went to my first Chipolte Grill there. It's still open by Barnes and Nobles and the movie theater. I used to have a lot of fun there. And, Saks 5th Ave and Nordstroms would be really cool. Of course I get a sharp pain in my wallet just thinking about my wife going there...lol.

And I HIGHLY recommend the Pascha Grill at the Greene! GREAT Turkish/Greek food! I'm kinda wimpy when it comes to exotic spices and there's STILL many items on the menu that I enjoy (and you can get more spice if you want...)

I've been meaning to take the Mrs. there. For her recent B-day she chose Coco's Bistro. Next place we try will be Pascha Grill.
This is the new trend. These "lifestyle centers," as they're called, are located in the suburbs of just about every reasonably-sized metropolitan area.
I do agree with Ohio girl, though. Much rather would have preffered the money go to "Ballpark Village." By the way. I wasn't 100% sure, but isn't Ball Park Village still an idea, or is being considered. I mean, I know the developer backed out, but is there still a want to do that project?
The city needs to stabilize itself, create jobs, attract new residents, and other things before you will see a Ball Park village. Besides, I understand that the McCook Field neighborhood is toxic from a chemical spill.
Developers are interested in the suburbs for a variety of reasons. The Greene is the latest in the developers arsenal since the suburbs are now saturated with malls and strip malls. At the present we need to stabilize Dayton, stop bleeding jobs, office tenants, and residents. The order would be jobs = residents = new/rehabbed housing = retail development. You want see Ball Park village without the jobs because the demographics are all wrong. Ball parks in the city core are great but they do not attract residents.
Let's say a developer did build ballpark village. Who would move there and why? Then you have the chemical contamination problems in that area of town.
So to answer your question I am not sure there is a "want" to do that project if we define want as market demand. Dayton needs to consider how to make a business friendly environment first. Hopefully the mayor can figure out to remove the obstacles. Politicians are not developers. City hall needs to stick to running city services and learn how to get out of the way of people who know how to run businesses.
