I don't know if "liberal" is the right term. Just more diverse. That calls for conservative business, too. Any type of business, really. I think by diverifying our local economy we can avoid the effects of recessions. Dayton does have alot going for it right now, though. It definitly NOT a downward spiral. The Oregon District continues to grow. There is interest in bringing more sports downtown. University of Dayton is considering buying the former NCR campus to expand it's business school, making it one of the largest. Sinclair continues to improve and grow and is one of the best community colleges in the nation. Downtown is getting all two way strrets in the near future. There are plans for ten major historic buildings to get huge modern facelifts in the near future. The riverfront is being readressed. The highway is getting fixed. Parkside is torn down and there are plans for new mixed use development there. There are plans for new condos around the Dayton Art Institute. Tech Town is growing tremendously. A community recreation center that is BEAUTIFUL by the way is being built in the inner city just north of downtown. More neighborhoods are getting more funding to be preserved. The city has seen an addition to it's skyline (Caresource) and is leaning towards more business coming down there too. The overall number of people coming downtown is on the rise. The Arcade is being bought and renovated, possibly creating a mall downtown. University Place is growing with new restaurants and shops. There is a brand new RTA station downtown that is very unique. Crime rates are lowering. Ballpark Village isn't total history, it's still in the works, just setback. More residential options are likely for the future downtown. Miami Valley is adding a new Heart wing making it one of the largest heart hospitals in the nation. Kettering Tower and the Key Bank building are filling up again. There are more restaurants fillinf up courthouse plaza. Stivers just got a huge addition. There is going to be a high speed rail station built somewhere near downtown in the near future that connects Dayton to all the major cities in Ohio by 2020 and all the major U.S. cities by 2030. Whoever said Dayton was dying, doesn't know exactly what "dying" means! Just a smack in the face for all the Dayton-haters.

Thanks for pointing out so many of these positive developments.
