Hell yes he will do better. I know him personally and helped the campaign. His biggest challenge is being 1 vote on a 5 person commission. He has a fight ahead of him and he needs the citizens to continue to rise up.

One thing for sure, there's going to be a lot less Dayton negativity in the comments sections at the Dayton Daily News now that McLin is gone.

This really can only help the city. Dayton needed an infusion of new energy, and the new mayor should bring it. I only wish that Cleveland could have followed suit.

@ Jeffery - the comments over there are a real cesspool. It should get a little better but it's pretty much a troll-fest there no matter what.

Leitzell is perfect for Dayton. He's extremely open-minded and well traveled. However, he has standards...standards that are going to make Dayton look the way it actually is- a great, positive, innovative city that is perfect to move to.

Nick, to get people to move here it'll take jobs. I believe Gary has the good sense to reach out to businesses and target the problems that are causing them to leave. Also, he is getting a bead on how to encourage small businesses to grow here - there are obstacles that need to be removed.
You need offices filled, that takes business. That brings people, then you will see retail move in. Yes, he also needs to make Dayton look better. He will have to figure out how to address the perception problems.
