Sounds like a switch blade. I have trouble with those too. There's a certain place you have to push to get it to close. Maybe a neighbor can help you? I saw that and almost ordered it.
Believe me, Camper, you dont want this knife! It is a switch-blade. There's no button or place to depress it in order to get it to close. I even went to you-tube and looked at videos of how to close other spring-assisted knives. There is a little tab at the side of the blade but I'm so afraid of it that I'm not willing to put more than a little pressure on the tab.
Truly, this thing is scary!! I'm no wimp but I'd be more afraid of this knife than of an attacker late at night.
OK, after some great advice from Bob, I googled ARE SWITCH BLADE KNIVES LEGAL IN HARRIS COUNTY TX and found the answer is NO. Then I looked up the definition of "switch blade knife" in the Harris County Code and the knives I bought fit that description. As I told Bob, why was I even allowed to buy these knives?
Anyway, I'm going to wrap them both in super-sticky tape, put them in a small box and fill the box with expanding foam that turns rock-hard. Then I'll throw them away with my garbage. That way, no one can ever get to them and use them.
Whew! Lesson learned! Thank goodness I spent only $1 each on them. Now I'm off to dispose of them before I take Queenie out for her nightly run.

Ninny.
Why don't you take them to a sleazy part of town and sell them? I bet you would come back with one heck of a story.
Truthfully, I didn't know switchblades were illegal anywhere.
I was going to post awhile, but after a handful of freebies, I'm ready to go to bed. I have to work tomorrow morning, then go by Nordstrom for my freebie....then
decide what to do with the rest of the weekend.
Oh...if any of you post with Magnum Mike in the Off Topic area, please stop at The Village in the community chat area to wish him a Happy Birthday.
He had knee surgery recently and could use the cheering up. Thought it was cute when he said he couldn't post on pain killers....if WE
were like that.....no one would be posting on the Freebie forum.
Hey, Glory! I dont have to go far to get to a sleazy part of town. I live there.
I tried to find THE VILLAGE but couldnt -- so I posted to Mike in something called "It's ROCKTOBER time in the VILLAGE!!!".
Thanks! I should've posted the link! I love hanging out at the Village...and the other community chats. If you ever have free posting time and want to get to know some really great people (like Crazyworld and I )....post anytime at any of the three. It's always fun and sweet!
