Thanks for this, Glory. I taught myself to crochet when I was nineteen and it has saved my sanity when things were bad. I have made hats, scarves, children's and women's dresses and once, a two-piece suit. I got into Aran crochet, (fisherman) after reading the history behind it and have made numerous afghans in the fisherman style. (They make great gifts but are so labor-intensive that only very special people get them!) In all these years, (57) I must admit that last year I finally made a Granny afghan. LOL Never really could get the hang of it but once I did, look out!
Thanks again for finding all this great stuff for us.
Location: Finally made it to Florida and lovin' every minute!

Theatergypsy, my first project was a Granny afghan!
I love to crochet. I've done all sorts of afghans, even made my mom a bedspread. I also crochet with thread- tablecloths, runners, even filet crochet. I made my husband a sampler-type wall hanging of the Lord's Prayer.
I'm about to try making place mats with raffia. I have this book that uses unusual materials like that. Can't wait to try it.
