I'm an audio book freak. The last 12 years that I worked, I operated, at my own expense, an audio book library for everyone in my company (300 employees). Some employees drove more than an hour each way to/from work and, once they learned how relaxing audio books made the trip, they were hooked. I spent more $$$ than I should have on audio books for them and ended up with at least 2,500 of them. (I often bought multiples of popular books.)
When I retired, I gave most of the audio books away to the employees and brought home only @ 300 audio books. I dont remember anything about the books to which I listened before my stroke five years ago -- so I listen to them again on a portable cassette player while Queenie is running at the schoolyard at night.
Just because I'm so fond of audio books, I'll probably download Cheney's. I'm not fond of him -- but he was, in effect, our President for the entire time that Bush was in office. Thanks, Glory!!!

Hopefully I remember this post and download it at home.
@texasfirewheel -- I started listening to audio books about a month ago. I have about 30 min to 1+ hour commute and audio books are great alternative.
Not as old school as cassette tapes, but I did bust out the CD walkman when I check out 3 audio books per week from the library.

Joseph, I bought all cassettes over the years because my 13-year old Jeep has only a cassette player...no CD player. Now I dont think you can even find most audio books on cassette. It seems they're all on CD's.
My employees and co-workers enjoyed the audio books so much that I'd often drive into the parking garage at work and see some of them sitting in their cars, listening to one of the books and waiting for the end of a chapter. It warmed my heart to see them enjoying the books so much -- although my HR Dept wasnt fond of the lending-library because they thought it might encourage too much socialization during working hours.
I think that, when I get through re-listening to all the audio books I've forgotten from my pre-stroke days, I'll start checking them out of the library too. Much cheaper than buying them, for sure!

This site does have a 14 day free trial period as well....but I'm not sure how many audio books you can download during that time. Might be worth a shot as long as you remember to cancel BEFORE the 14 days are up and they charge your CC.
