They have to do this to verify that you're not a minor. Even on the Marlboro website, they to the same thing. It doesn't bother me.
I understand that it is a requirement but I don't like giving out any part of my SSN. The first five digits have been proven to be predictable so giving out the last 4 is worrisome to me.
Not trying to start a privacy argument, just wanted to make others aware so that they didn't waste their time if they don't want to give out their last 4.

Don't sweat it. The tobacco and alcohol companies do this to protect themselves and you always have the choice not to give your info but they wont follow through either and they do give out some great freebies.
