Ketabcha's area has been having a lot of earthquakes too. When I lived in Denver (in the 1960s), we had earthquakes due to waste water being pumped underground. The earthquakes were fairly small, but still knocked pictures off the wall and broke dishes.

Next week is supposed to be very rainy here. I dont mind, though. After years of drought, rain is very welcome.

I drove over to Dallas this morning (45 min drive) in thunderstorms with lots of flooding.
I'm back home now after lunch with my mother, sister and BIL.
Now the entire Dallas/Ft. Worth area is under tornado warnings until 9:00 tonight. DFW Airport was shut down this morning. No takeoffs or landings. Lots of thunder and lightning. eek!
I'm just happy as a clam to be snug as a bug back in my house. It's supposed to rain in these parts for the next week. We need the rain and as long as there are no tornados or hail we'll be fine. Not much we can do about it, anyway. What will be will be.

I fell bad, we are just enjoying the light rain we get every few days. Everything is SO GREEN after years and years of nothing but brown.

Stay safe everyone and stay in touch!!

Hope everyone stays safe!! Sorry I've been MIA for awhile, it turns out my friend needs chemo. and radiation - found out it's not just my family that's screwed up, LOL - I'll be MIA again as I'm heading to NC to scope out some places to possibly move to (it's just so hard and scary but must be done). Take care everyone!!

Happy Almost-Memorial Day, everyone. Supposed to be wet here all week long. I read that this rainy pattern may continue through the summer, which would be better than the drought we've had for the last 5-6 years.

Hi all, hope you're having a nice Memorial Day weekend, and thank you to any and all vets out there.

Returned from NC yesterday, exhausted of course - Got to the beach twice, first time it was pretty windy but still walked and got shells, second time I had sand stuck to my feet and lower legs from walking to the place we were setting up and I stupidly didn't use any sunscreen there so proceeded to get burned (I also was walking in the water's edge alot while collecting more shells - swelled up for a couple days there, LOL.

Ruled out moving to New Bern and Greenville (received a totally unfair ticket in Greenville and I was so stunned/nervous, etc. I didn't want to "argue" with him - I haven't had a ticket in 30 yrs.!! - planning to call my insurance agent on Tues./Wed. and see what I should do - $238!! - $50 for the ticket, rest is court costs.)

Still no clue where I may relocate to, if house was paid off I'd stay but w/9 yrs. left on the mortgage......

Anyway, hope you all are doing well. BEAUTIFUL weather here (until Wed. I believe when the high heat and humidity return).

Sorry about the ticket, Flamingo. Does the ticket say that you can take defensive driving? That would probably be the best way to go.

I'm not in favor of letting insurance agents know about tickets because that may cause your insurance rate to go up. The insurance companies would find out about in-state tickets when they do an annual review of your driving record but they may not find out about out-of-state tickets.

I love the beach but seldom go because of the crowds. My favorite US beach is on Cape Cod. When I was in the lovely town of Falmouth, there were houses with fenced back yards that backed up to a lovely private beach. I'd love to live there except for the winters.
