I'm a big fan of this every year. I like this house also....went through it room by room a couple of days ago. If you sign up...they will remind you in email to enter each day.
I wouldn't be able to keep it, even with the $500,000 cash they give with it, due to high taxes and upkeep. But I sure could sell it and find something smaller for myself to retire in.
I didn't care for the house. The location? Beautiful - but the house looked like a commercial box. Nothing homey about it. Not even real adobe. Not energy efficient with those tall ceilings.
And that interior designer needs a few lessons in what's overkill.
I think they gave the 500K this year because most people cannot afford the taxes on any of those homes.
I'm not allowed to sign in for this, unfortunately. But if I could I would, then would sell the house (since it's not in the region I live in anyway) but... I would probably keep many of the things that go with the house (I'm sure the furniture is great!)
I like the house. I also love the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. My house is decorated in southwest style. Before I retired our regional management meetings were held in Albuquerque for our 5 state region.
I like the high desert and I have a lot of friends in that area.

I don't know if it would be best to take a few things out or just sell it/auction it off ebay style with everything in it as shown. (Oddly enough, I've given this a lot thought through the years.)
The oddest thing about this house is that in the Casita....the shower glass wall is open to the bedroom and you can see the toilette on the other side. I just wouldn't want that....even if I lived alone.
