Ha, just kidding. You're the smartest people I know! But, you can get a pair of tickets to a screening of the movie You Don't Know Jack. This movie is about Jack Kevorkian. The dates are April 15 (I hate that date!) and April 19th.

Actually, I did know Jack. The mother of a close friend of mine had been in an accident, and over the years, her pain was so great that no amount of medicine could relieve it. She lived in great, agonizing pain 24/7. She finally told her family that she couldn't handle it any longer. She consulted with Dr. K first, but, he wouldn't "assist" her because she didn't have a terminal illness. I don't know what you call being in chronic pain 24/7, not even able to function, but, it's not a terminal illness, according to Dr. K. However, we talked and visited back and forth with him because at this point, everyone was pleading with him to "assist" her, and he was so sympathetic and very kind, and would always talk to us, but stood firm in his decision. So, she committed suicide. I know she was in too much pain to even think, but, she did it on my friends (her daughters) birthday! Not only that, my friend was leaving that morning to go to Switzerland, so she found out as soon as her plane landed there.

Unfortunately, the screening is in these cities/states only. I know, not mine either. But I can't wait to see it when it comes to HBO

Life has a strange way of being "cruel" sometimes. I've known a couple of people that have committed suicide. Although, not due to physical pain. I never had a problem with Dr. K.. I'd bet it wasn't easy for him, making the decision about your friend's mother. I'm interested in seeing this movie to see some of the things he dealt with. He simply eased (by their request) peoples pain and suffering. He didn't deserve all the trouble.

I see NY on the list. Doubt they'll play it, way up where I am. Something tells me a DVD will be coming soon after the HBO release.

Thanks for the "heads-up".
