In the late 1980s Lake Street was named as one of the 3 top locations for drug activity in New Castle County (excluding the city of Wilmington). A big effort was made to clean it up throughout the 1990s.

Clyde Street in Belvedere was the 2nd, but I can't remember the 3rd

Big improvement on Lake St since Middletown start it's own Police Dept. I'm not saying it's the Garden of Eden, but that was the first thing they attacked with the new force. The bike officers make the biggest difference IMHO.

Relocating to Odessa De from Colorado and told the high school for our feeder pattern is Appoquinimink High School. Can anyone tell me about the school. We are looking for a good public school with quality teachers, advanced programs, with STEM programs. Diversity is important too. Can anyone share the pros and cons of this school?

We have been pleased with Appo HS. My son is very involved with STEM via FRC - Robotics. There are 2 groups in Middletown both with students from Middletown HS, Appoquinimink HS and St Georges Technical School. One group uses the "shop" at Appo HS and the other uses the "shop" at Middletown HS. My son has participated with both teams and prefers Team 4954 that has the Middletown shop even though he is a student at Appo. Have you visited the high school? It is a newer building with all of the bells and whistles. My son's teachers have all been young but very good. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to PM me.
