I've been told that east of Rt. 9 is a bad place for mosquitos. Anyone experience the same problem?

NYJoe,

Route 9 runs east to west. Are you sure you dont mean east of route 1? I do know that at certain times of the year Cape Henlopen State Park visitors have warned in their reviews to be sure you bring plenty of bug spray.

Yes. Mosquitoes enjoy the marshy areas near Delaware 9, which runs N-S along the easterly boundary of Delaware extending from the Delaware River (Holloway Terrace) to the Delaware Bay (Barkers Landing). Sheep flies like that area, too. We've had mosquitoes in Delaware as long as I can remember, but in recent years they've not been as pesky because of our excellent mosquito control division.

There's also a calendar on this site showing when and where they spray for mosquitoes throughout the state.

The marsh's east of Route 9 are a breeding ground for mosquitoes; but remember they limit their travel to one mile or less.

It depends on which Rt. 9. In New Castle County, it runs N/S.
