I received this as a joke but....it is so true...enjoy
DRIVING IN DELAWARE
1. The morning rush hour is from 5 a.m. to noon. The evening rush hour is from noon to 7 p.m. Friday’s rush hour starts on Thursday morning.
2. The minimum acceptable speed on most freeways is 75mph. On I-95, your speed is expected to match the highway number.
3. Forget the traffic rules you learned anywhere else. In Delaware, SUV-driving, cell-phone-talking drivers always have the right of way.
4. If you actually stop for a yellow light, you will be honked at or possibly rear-ended. This may also apply at some red lights.
5. At four-way stops, cars with black & white tags have the right of way.
6. Road construction is permanent and continuous in all of Delaware. Detour barrels are moved around during the middle of the night for your entertainment and to make the next day’s driving more exciting.
7. MapQuest does not work here. None of the streets are where they say they are or go where they say they do and all the freeway off/on ramps are moved each and every night.
8. If someone actually has their turn signal on, wave them to the shoulder immediately to let them know it has been “accidentally activated.”
9. If you are in the left lane and only driving 70mph in a 55mph zone, you are considered a road hazard and treated accordingly.
10. Do not try to estimate travel time. Just leave Monday afternoon for Tuesday appointments, by noon Thursday for Friday, and right after church on Sunday for anything on Monday morning

THIS IS CUTE... LOL... Only thing I don't agree with is....What rush hour?????
Is there one here? 6 cars at a traffic light and wow are they long lights.
Another thing I do worry about is traveling along the long , sometimes windy, but flat of course, country roads. I always assume that an oncoming vehicle is going to be on my side of the yellow line.

This is exactly our thinking. No traffic. Mind you, we came from Philly. Now we go on Irish Hill and "Maybe" there is one car coming in one direction.
We laugh about this.
Also, the lights are long but I feel the are in sync and I'm willing to wait.
I love looking around at the fields and different homes and developments so that I find myself going off the road. It seems I don't pay attention as much down here. it is very relaxed but I must try to focus.
Ever drive west to MD? What a nice ride.

On another thread I posted that my husband travels to MD for business and to the BWI airport. It is a pleasant and relaxing drive for the most part and he prefers it to the drive to Philly. Such fantastic scenery.
Do you ever visit Annapolis? Also there is a park just near the bridge which looks like a nice place to hang out for the day. Pass by it often but have never stopped. Also, took a drive to Ocean City, MD to visit my kids vacationing there. It took approx 1 hr and it was an easy drive down RT. 113.
I returned on a Saturday morning and still no traffic jams anywhere. Now that is a great way to return from a few days at the beach.

The traffic is on Route 13, this little town of Seaford has a good amount of it...maybe the side roads are quieter. It might help in contemplating a move into the lower half of Delaware to remember that there aren't a lot of medical facilities here like you may be used to in more populated areas. Beebe on the shore in Lewes is okay, but the hospitals in Seaford and Milford just had to drop their Level Three trauma designation because of doctor shortages.

Yes PA we have visited Annaplolis since we have been here......Twice. I love it. Such an interesting town with cute little shops. We toured the academy both times too. I love to walk along the wall along the water. About 12 years ago, my daughter was invited down for the weekend. She didn't get our congressmans appointment and was very disappointed to say the least.
But things have a way of working out the way they are supposed to. Now she is married to a coast guard Lt. and they have an adorable little girl.....My heart
You are correct about the drive to Ocean city. When we lived in Philly, we woud drive to the Jersey Shore. Took anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours.
Now Rehobeth 35 min.
We have taken the coastal highway through Bethany, Fennwick and down to OC.
I just love living here and I know you do too.
Where in PA are you from?

All over the country health care is on a downward spiral. There is a shortish of Nurses which is a problem.
I know in PA, Doctors are or were moving out of the state because of Malpractice insurance.
I'm not familiar with all 50 some states but I'm sure if we talk to their residents, we will hear health care is not what it used to be.
Not too mention a good amount of our American citizens Don't have health care cuz they can not afford it.
Someone close to me is in this situation and it is heartbreaking not to mention frustrating. To think we are in the worlds riches country and many of our citizens down' have health care.
Sorry for the ramble..............

I figure in another 5 or 6 years I won't be able to afford health insurance...Unless they don't raise my premium. A friend who is 54 just had to cancel his when they raised his premium to $800/month. He's had no claims other than routine office visits. He's shopping, but finding premiums are too high at his age.

This is a disgrace. Multiply your friends case by thousands.
I dont' see any resolutions in the near future either. Goof balls in Washington and too busy fighting over politics instead of doing their job which is serving the people.
I would have to cancel too if my premiums went to $800 a month. That is almost my whole social security check.

I'm at $400/month now...45 and the picture of good health. Every year it creeps up. My friend said when he hit 50, there was a BIG increase. I figure I've paid $70,000+ in health insurance premiums in the past 20 years with no claims other than routine office visits, and not many at that. I don't go to the doctor unless I'm looking at permanent disfigurement or death. I could have that money in investments working toward retirement.
Sad thing is that when you get older and really need health insurance, you can't afford it.
