Stop giving Giuliani so much credit. Jeez. When GenX came of age, they were raised in suburbs. When real estate blew up in in the 90s, the criminal element was priced out, and suburban GenXers moved on in, lowering the crime. Cities came back in style. The alpha city, and best example, being NYC.

When this happened, you will see that almost all the surrounding Mid-Atlantic cities absorbed this, ESPECIALLY New Castle County. The migration map that I posted a while ago, that nobody commented on, explained this to a t. New Castle County got as many immigrants from NYC as it did the other counties in its own metro. This has been going on for years.

In 2003, I started working at a cell phone company and every time I pulled up a number on my screen, I could see the original MSN market. Almost every other person some days was from NYC.

NYC PRICED OUT their criminals. Wilmington does not have that luxury, and won't, especially due to the COL vacuum. People get sucked into NCCO DE taking NYC money to NCCO, and then can't move out because now they are making NCCO money. They basically have to move south, which many spoiled New Yorkers won't do, or stay in Bear.

The increase in traffic alone dictates this. Many of these drivers are not DE drivers - honking, tailgating, etc. NCCO is going to be one ghetto fabulous county in about 10 years. We see this evident with the increase in crime in Wilmington, but especially in New Castle, Bear, Newark, ETC.

I agree with you to a point. Manhattanites started moving uptown to Harlem and to the Bronx in the 90's during the Giuliani administration. Also, to the other boroughs as well. Now the Bronx and Brooklyn is becoming gentrified. People are getting priced out of NYC altogether. Some did migrate to Delaware and points south. I moved to NJ from Wilmington in the mid 90's for a better job opportunity that wasn't available in Philly, much less Delaware. Before I moved, I did notice an influx of poeple from NYC and Philly. Whatever direction you were going, north or south, we were seeking better opportunities. Financially and otherwise. Eastside Wilmington is ripe for gentrification. Big mess to clean up before it can happen, IMO.

Now my situation is I live in the Pocono Mountains but I commute to NYC everyday for my job. Some say it's crazy. However, an article was written that says about 30,000 plus commuters go to NYC from the Poconos everyday. It seems like everyone is grasping for their slice of the american dream anyway they can. The nomads rule the day in this economy.

People that work for weapon manufacturers read threads like this and laugh all the way to the bank as the company's they work for make billions of dollars.

Meanwhile people debate each day about insignificant social issues...

That's if they even bother to read this stuff I wish I majored in Electrical or Computer Engineering. By this time, I would be in upper management instead of fighting for peanuts like the rest of the drones

I can't believe that only one person wanted the needle for him. Oh well. I guess he'll live on Delaware tax payer's dime. This is a joke, IMO.

Maybe you're the one whose values are at variance with those of the majority in that case.
