Thanks for all of the suggestions. We attended the parade and "stroll" in Middletown yesterday. It was a good time! We enjoyed that the shops were open for business. We were able to walk thru and shop in several unique places.

Of course need some decoration with the Christmas tree. I think just meeting with some good friends and family members will be a great day. Children also can not be ignored. They will add some activity for the party

SUSSEX COUNTY —
The Georgetown Christmas Parade, one of the county seat’s finest holiday traditions, steps off on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and has a new twist to it.
“Actually, more like three thousand twists,” says Chamber Executive Director, Karen Duffield. This year, in deference to a still challenging economy, the chamber is not spending money for just a few Macy style, jumbo balloons (like it has for the past few years,) but rather is spending far less for a few thousand more - just not as big!
“We hope every single person who comes to the Georgetown Parade leaves with a balloon, and we want The Circle and the entire parade route to be blanketed with them. “It should be quite a sight!” Duffield said. “And there will be no doubt that this is truly a balloon parade.”
The annual parade event is organized by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and this year’s theme is Christmas Around the World. All the marching bands, floats, antique vehicles, fire trucks and other entries have been encouraged to create a decorating scheme to reflect the wonderful diversity of Christmas celebrations to be found around the world--and to use lots of balloons!

GEORGETOWN — Sussex County is sponsoring the annual Caroling on The Circle tonight, the 27th year for the combined holiday event and countywide food drive.

The caroling will begin at 6:30 p.m. on The Circle in Georgetown, with hundreds of residents joining in along with the El Centro Cultural group, Sussex Central Middle School choir and local musicians Ed Shockley and Kevin Short, singing traditional English and Spanish carols. Santa Claus also will pay a visit.

The event is free, but participants are asked to bring canned goods and other non-perishable food items to donate.

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Officials say hundreds of carolers sang in the holiday season during the 27th annual Caroling on The Circle event Monday night in Sussex County. They say more than 19,000 canned goods and other non-perishable food items were collected. Items collected will be donated to approximately a half dozen area pantries, shelters and church organizations for distribution within Sussex County, says organizers.
To date, officials say the community has donated more than 550,000 canned goods through the Caroling on The Circle program. The annual event first started in 1984.
"Once again, Sussex Countians have found canned goods in their cupboards and generosity in their hearts to make this holiday special for someone less fortunate. We're thankful for any amount we collect, and we thank all the residents, schools, businesses and organizations who continue to support us," said County Administrator David B. Baker.
