Hi There--

I am a recent graduate of UD with a degree in Business Management. I am moving to the Rehoboth area to help my sister out with my new niece.

I am having a VERY difficult time finding full time work in the area. Anyone know of a good resource for finding open job opportunities?

I am very familiar with the guide and cape gazette.. I haven't been able to find any other places that businesses would advertise job opportunities....

If anyone knows of any businesses that are hiring, that would be great as well

Thanks!

If you don't know somebody that knows someone that knows someone else it's going to be hard to find a decent paying job down here, that's all I gotta say!

Sad, but true.

Finally, some brutal honesty in this forum. Education has very little "pull" in this area. You could be the next of kin to Albert Einstein applying to be a scientist and if the person doing the hiring knows the other applicant or they have a local last name you wont be given a second thought. Welcome to LSD.

You can move to the area of Rehoboth Beach but you have to commute to the Dover area or the Salisbury MD area. For four years I commuted to Salisbury and had NO bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I'm with all the posters who say you need to "know someone" in Sussex...very true. It took me awhile to land my job even though I am highly educated; I'm still considered a bit of an "outcast" around here because my last name is not local Sussex. It's an "above the canal" last name. I didn't take my husband's name when we married. He is a Sussex County native (western Sussex at that), and he will tell you the same thing.

You can also be warned a lot on this forum for being too honest, it's happened to me many, many times!

All the jobs that you see advertised in all the papers around here are the bottom of the barrel, it's just a fact!

That's why I made my own job and work for myself, it's not the best but I enjoy & love what I do. It's not for everyone but you just have to find your own niche!

When I moved out of the DC area to the beach seven years ago I knew it wasn't going to be easy finding a good paying job but my sanity & happiness was more important to me at the time!

I accually worked for the city of Rehoboth Beach one summer thinking that I might get my foot in the door for a good paying job but it still didn't help. And if you talked to many of the employees that worked for the city, they all knew someone that knew someone else!
